I was led to the Lord in 1976 at the age of 33 in a 'warehouse' church in Sparks, NV.  The young pastor, Mike Boyce, had a passion for Christ and a clear message of the grace of God which I was hearing for the first time in my life.  I envied his understanding of the Word of God and when he mentioned that he had attended a bible school in Texas called 'His Hill', I took note.  He also had mentioned 'The Major' who I assumed was one of his teachers at His Hill.

When I moved away from that church and spent the next few years trying to find another that encouraged me as that one did, I was troubled.

Everyplace I went the message was different.  It wasn't about what Christ had done for me but what I should be doing for Him and if I was lacking then guilt would soon follow.  I began to question whether or not the foundation that I had originally received was valid or not.  Thank God that in those times He would whisper to me 'hold on to what you have'.

A friend gave me a book one day saying he thought that it would encourage me.  I wasn't in the habit of reading books about Christianity but his enthusiasm was sincere.  The Saving Life of Christ by Major W. Ian Thomas.  Praise the Lord!

Within those pages I discovered again that pure message of 'Christ in me, the hope of glory'.

I was curious about this 'Major' and after investigating realized that he was indeed 'the Major' of my first pastor and the founder of His His Bible school.  I had come full circle.

Thank you Major...for yielding...for trusting..for obeying.  The Lord used you to make all the difference in my life and those around me.

What a legacy....How blessed your family must be.
