My first encounter with Major Ian Thomas was at the "Jesus 76" in Canada. At that time I had just graduated from college and went to this conference with a couple friends. We camped in this big field and daily heard many speakers. Upon hearing the Major I made sure that I made everyone of his lectures and soaked up all that he had to say. I bought all three books and his tapes and have treasured them for the last 30 years. Just last weekend, while on a getaway with my husband, I took those same three books (by now with pages falling out and totally marked up) to refresh my soul with his timeless truths.
I told my husband that I was going to buy those books to give as Christmas gifts this year (especially to my sons) because they were the most life-changing books that I have every read. I asked my husband..."why don't more preachers say these things from the pulpit?". This morning, I had a few minutes to get online and see where I could order his books and I read where he had passed away in August. I could not keep the tears from falling. I am so glad that when the Lord taught him the truths of the scripture that he so willingly shared them and wrote them down! He could just see so much in scripture and so clearly articulate it to us and I am so grateful.
You have my deepest sympathy.
