I first met Major Thomas in 1956, on(as I remember) his first trip to the USA. After going through Customs at the airport in Los Angeles we got in the car as I was going to drive him to Forest Home Christian Conference Center (in the San Bernardino Mountains) where he was to speak. We had no sooner gotten in the car when Major Thomas asked me if I was born again. I said I was. We had a nice trip together to Forest Home.

 

 It was earlier that year that I received the Lord, so I got to learn a lot from him. During the next few years I got to know him as a man who loved the Lord and his life showed it. Later that year (1956) he wrote the following in my Bible: "Faith says THANK YOU and takes all that God is willing to give. His biggest gift is Himself, in Christ =in whom all other gifts are contained." And after signing his name he referenced

 

Phil 1:21. "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain"
