Garth and Jody Showalter
When I was on the staff at His Hill in Texas in 1990, Major and his wife came to speak for the Thanksgiving conference. We were fortunate to have the couple meet with the entire staff for a quick bible study and prayer meeting one morning. The evening before I had gotten engaged. I don't know who told them, or if it was the glow on my face, but they mentioned the engagement and how happy they were for me.
Then he got out his worn bible and talked about Ephesians 4 and the relationships with married couples. They spent extra time with me and talked about marriage and gave great advice. Now, 17 years later, that advice still rings true and I think back on that special moment for me. He will be greatly missed but we rejoice in knowing we will see him again in heaven. I'll thank him then and let him know how his kind words affected me.
