In the Autumn of 1954 I was invited to the Christian Union at Morecanbe Grammar School to listen to Major Thomas. For me at that time Christianity was for Kids and Grannies but here was a Major! He spoke about the Lord Jesus as risen and alive and it had a huge impact on my thinking. It led me eventually to the Lancaster Town Hall on February 19th 1955 where I became a Christian after watching a Billy Graham Film. I was then invited for a free weekend at Capernwray with Mr Van Doren and for me it was a foretaste of Heaven. I frequently cycled out to Capernwray where I learned so much about the Lord. It gave me a solid foundation for my career as Head of RE, Elder, Preacher and Pastor.

Major Thomas was a "man amongst men" a spiritual giant and I thank God for him and what the Lord Achieved through him.
