In the year 1970, I attended Capernwray in England. I was a fledging christian, from southern California, and thought the word "torchbearer" sounded medieval. To be honest, I was firstly impressed with the handsome sons of the Thomas family running around. Living in a castle was beyond my wildest dreams.
When I first heard Major Ian Thomas speak, I remember thinking that I had never heard such a riveting speaker. I will always remember these words and this truth: a follower of Christ's life is not by imitation, but derivation. Those words have resonated to me for a long, long time. And the truth of Grace and God indwelling became liberating and understandable.
Peace to the Thomas family.
