The first time I came to Capernwray Hall was in October 1994. We were asked to read Major Thomas book "The saving life of Christ". I wasn´t in the mood to read this book but I had too, so I did. At the end it became my personal major break through in my christian life. Finally I understood the meaning of being free in Christ. Over the years I gave this precious book to many friends. I had the honour and great pleasure to hear him speak over the years at Capernwray Hall. He changed my understanding of God and the way I live today.
But there is something else I need to mention. After the 2.WW it was Major Thomas, who took the first steps to bring Germans to England. He was a friend to Germans when they were deeply ashamed of who they were and where they came from. He was not simply a "Soldier" for his country. He was a soldier in God´s service. He always saw the person and the seeking heart, in need for a saviour. Dietrich Bonhoeffer said once, that the "Christ" in my fellow christian is stronger than the Christ in myself." Christ was extremly strong in Major Thomas. We all saw it and got encouraged to grow in Christ as Major Thomas did. Today, I wanna thank God for this man´s life. I´m one of thousands who have been blessed! I´m a Torchbearer.
Thanks.
